Sir,

This highly successful vibrant congress juncture of the Indian Association of Dermatology, Venereology, and Leprology (IADVL) chapter was held on December 11–13, 2015 in Nashik, Maharashtra, India. There were more than 800 attendees at this gathering in Maharashtra, India's third largest state with a population of more than 110 million individuals. President Dr. Vijay Zawar, who also chaired the organizing committee, devised an innovative workshop and scientific program focused on fetching the future of clinical dermatology.

IADVL National President, Dr. Venkataram Mysore, joined Maharashtra IADVL President Dr. Vijay Zawar in welcoming the assemblage, accompanied by Guest of Honor Dr. Deepak Parikh. This inaugural function was followed by “Luminaries Speak,” with Dr. M. Ramam putting mycosis fungoides into clinical perspectives, Dr. Pravit Asawanonda (Thailand) illuminating use of phototherapy, and Dr. Robert A. Schwartz (USA) highlighting on life-threatening drug eruptions. Here were also two named orations. Dr. V. M. Kale Oration was conferred on the eminent professor and ardent teacher of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, Dr. M. Ramam on cydnidae (burrowing bug) pigmentation and the audience appreciated the educative talk.

Dr. Robert A. Schwartz (USA) is eminent for his work in cutaneous oncology. He is well known globally for his renowned research on florid cutaneous papillomatosis (1978 viz., Schwartz–Burgess syndrome), AIDS-associated Kaposi's sarcoma (1981), and premalignant cheilitis (2012). He was aptly chosen to deliver Dr. Leslie Marquis Oration on “My journey through cutaneous signs of internal malignancy.” His style to present this serious subject with wit and humor was amazing.

The program was adroitly varied. It had commenced with a remarkable surgical workshop led by Dr. Somesh Gupta, many local dermatologists joined him in surgical demonstrations held at the Dr. Vasantrao Pawar Medical College. A new journal was unveiled, the Indian Journal of Drugs in Dermatology, with the founder editor Dr. Sushil Pande proudly proclaiming it as the official journal of the IADVL Maharashtra Branch [Figure 1]. A resident's forum engrossed on international opportunities was highly appreciated by young dermatologists [Figure 2]. Dr. Toby Maurer (USA) lectured on challenges in diagnosing HIV. Dr. Kiran Godse highlighted approaches in managing urticaria. Dr. Uday Khopkar disclosed dermatoscopic clinical secrets. Dr. Manish Shah discussed pediatric psoriasis. Dr. Rajesh Verma revealed mysteries among fixed drug eruptions. Dr. Manjunath Shenoy's touch of humor was enjoyable. Dr. Saurabh Shah described syndromes in acne and their pathogenesis-based management. “My memorable misdiagnosis” was a thought-provoking session that drew upon large crowds. Dr. Narendra Patwardhan moderated a nice panel discussion on difficult cases of hair disorders. Overwhelming participation by delegates was noted during the panel discussion on urticaria moderated by Dr. Vijay Zawar, Dr. Vishalakshi Vishwanath, Dr. Manish Shah, and Dr. Anil Bhokare. Dr. Pravin Bharatia discussed current trends in psoriasis.

Accolades were proclaimed by Dr. Robert A. Schwartz, Dr. Chetan Oberoi, and Dr. R. G. Valia to President Dr. Vijay Zawar, his elegant wife Dr. Swati Zawar and his efficient team members including Dr. Milind Deshmukh and Dr. AmeetValia (Scientific Chairs), Deepak Kotkar, (organizing secretary), Suneel Vartak (Treasurer), and Shital Poojary (IADVL Maharashtra Secretary) some of who visited, the UNESCO World Heritage, Ellora Caves Temple. President Dr. Zawar was awarded a special certification of recognition from the Rutgers New Jersey Medical School Chapter of Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society, with gratitude and reverence for his outstanding leadership.
